Call for Diversity and Inclusion Track

Overview

The D&I track is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion (D&I) in research in Data Sciences and Databases, and the use of data to study questions around diversity and inclusion in social or institutional settings. The goal of the D&I track is to enable greater participation of a wider audience than is typical, as well as to promote research that enables us to better understand what the current barriers are to achieving equitable representation of different demographics and what can be done to remove such barriers.

We are happy to announce a special call for poster submissions for the Diversity and Inclusion Track at CODS/COMAD Dec 2024. This track aims to highlight and celebrate diversity and inclusion in the fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Therefore, this call specifically seeks contributions from students with traditionally under-represented backgrounds. In particular, we encourage women / LGBTQ+ / differently abled students to submit their innovative research and projects. We also seek participation of students from resource constrained institutes/universities. Usually there are a few scholarships that are offered under the track, in order to enable greater participation in the conference of attendees from traditionally underrepresented segments. We aim to continue this practice; for more details about the scholarships, watch this space.

CODS/COMAD is a premier conference in the field of AI and data science in India. Attending it will give you a unique opportunity to interact with experts and researchers in the field of Data science and AI and learn new advancements in this field. The poster session will enable you to showcase your research and help you make further connections with potential collaborators to advance your research work.

The submission should be on topics related to data science, data management, data mining, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, as well as papers describing the design, implementation and results of solutions of such advances to real-world problems. Submission can range from theoretical contributions to systems and algorithms to experimental research and benchmarking. The submission should be the result of original innovative work including solving novel technical or research problems and/or creating novel UI/UX.

Submission Guidelines

  • Eligibility: Submissions are open to undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds. Primary author of the submitted poster should be from an underrepresented group mentioned earlier.
  • Abstract: Submit an extended abstract of up to 500 words summarizing your research or project.
  • Content: Abstract should include clear objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions. Visual elements like graphs, charts, and images are encouraged.

Submission Process

Review and Selection

All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of experts with a focus on originality, significance, clarity, and relevance to the conference focus.

Selected Posters

Students of selected posters will be invited to present their work at the conference. This is a unique opportunity to share your research with a broad audience, network with professionals, and contribute to the dialogue on diversity in Data Science and AI.

Awards
