Call for Young Researchers’ Symposium Papers

Call for Young Researchers’ Symposium Papers

The Young Researchers' Symposium at CODS-COMAD 2024 invites submissions from students and postdoctoral fellows. This is a unique opportunity for young researchers to have fruitful peer-to-peer discussions and to get feedback from leading senior researchers about their current research work. The YRS forum this year also includes a PhD clinic session (see below) where young researchers will be paired with senior mentors to enable personalized mentoring.

Submissions to the Young Researchers' Symposium (YRS) are in the form of a 2-page extended abstract, and are invited on the topics such as data systems, data science, machine learning, combining knowledge and data, data management and platforms, data-driven applications etc. We welcome many kinds of papers, such as, but not limited to: novel research papers, work-in-progress papers, appraisal papers of existing methods and tools (e.g., lessons learned).

The first author of any submission should be an undergraduate/postgraduate/Ph.D. student or a Postdoctoral researcher affiliated with any academic institution.

Authors of accepted papers will get a chance to present their work both as a poster and a quick lightning talk at the conference. The extended abstract will appear in the proceedings of the conference, which will be published in ACM Digital Library.

Please read the Dual submission, Plagiarism, and Conflict of Interest policies this page for submission instructions

Several technical awards are available for best paper, etc. Please see the Awards page for details.

Partial travel Grants will be available for domestic students whose papers are accepted. Presenters will also have the option to present the papers virtually, but we prefer in-person participation to get the maximum benefits of the YRS forum.

ACM India PhD Clinic

ACM India’s PhD Clinic was launched in Sept 2020, facilitates CS PhD students from all over the country to obtain inputs and advice from diverse expert mentors located in premier academic institutions and industry. The PhD Clinic has been very successful in helping students, with some representative feedback from students:

"The way she answered the questions was so good! She shared personal experiences as well and that made me connect to her."

"He guided me in such a nice way about how to find a research topic, what areas can be there and how I should align my research in a proper manner."

More details of the ACM India PhD Clinic program can be found here
